Surround
This unit is equipped with a digital signal processing circuit that lets you play program sources in the sound mode to achieve the same sense of presence as in a movie theater.

This table shows the speakers that can be used in each sound mode and the surround parameters adjustable in each sound mode.
Symbols in the table
S This indicates the audio output channels or surround parameters that can be set.
D This indicates the audio output channels. The output channels depend on the settings of “Speaker Config.” (vpage127).
Sound Mode (vpage77)
Channel output
z1 During playback in PURE DIRECT mode, the surround parameters are the same as in
DIRECT mode.
z2 Only when “Subwoofer Mode” is set to “LFE+Main” (vpage 128), sound is
output from the subwoofer.
z3 A signal for each channel contained in an input signal is output as audio.
z4 Audio is output from the front height speaker when the set sound mode name
contains “+PLgz”. For information on how to check the sound mode, see page77.
z5 Audio is output from the front height speaker when “Audyssey DSX
®
” (vpage113)
is set to “On-Height-”.
z6 Audio is output from the front wide speaker when “Audyssey DSX
®
” (vpage113)
is set to “On-Wide-”.
z7 Audio is output from the surround back speaker when “Speaker Select”
(vpage110) is set to “S. Back”.
z8 Audio is output from the front height speaker when “Speaker Select” (vpage110)
is set to “F. Height”.
